Desilting a pond is seasonal work. It has to be finished before the first serious rain, because after that the water arrives whether the pond is ready for it or not.

What happens in each village
- A survey with the gram panchayat, so the work is theirs and not ours
- Desilting, which is the expensive part and needs machinery
- Planting on the catchment slope, or the silt returns within two seasons
- A village water committee that is trained and then left to run it
Step four is the one that decides whether any of this still matters in five years.
What is still needed
The shortfall sits at the desilting stage in Ambegaon and everything in Shirgaon. If this misses the monsoon it waits a full year.
